Ivy Maude – Day 7

Ivy’s mom has another update.
“Day 7:  She is beginning to look more and more like my girl.  The swelling in her face has gone down considerably.  She apparently gave the nurse a run for her money early this morning after I’d fallen asleep, when she started fighting her sedation again and lifting her arms up.  She is known for being a feisty one (one nurse told me that with the amount of drugs in this kid you could sedate a small village…and she still moves!).   We hate to keep her so heavily sedated but keeping her from taking her breathing tube out is essential.  The only thing on the schedule today is to have the tube that has drained and treated the cysts, removed.  The doc is confident that we have done enough treatments to see an improvement, even if its over a long period of time.
“Tomorrow will be a big day.  She will be taken to the OR where they will scope her windpipe to make sure it is unobstructed.  If so and things look good, her breathing tube will be removed and they will see if she can breathe on her own.  If its still a little difficult for her we will make the transition in baby steps.  So today we just watch her and try to keep her as calm as possible in preparation for tomorrow.

We feel a lot of love from a lot of people right now.  Thank you.”
