A friend of mine has been doing some serious reorganizing and I have been the happy recipient of her cast offs. (She knows that one of my favorite brain teasers is re purposing.) Among the bounty was a bag of old karate belts.
What to do???
Hearkening back to the old camp crafts–a basket.
The trickiest part was sewing the edges together. I ended up using a curved upholstery needle and heavy duty thread. My fingers will never be the same–but the basket came out pretty cool!
Next we are going to try a purse (when I have feeling in my right thumb again.)

No way, that is so cool! I love it, great job!
your creativeness continues to astound and amaze this simple mind of mine. What a great gift and talent you have been given. Hope all is well with you and your family.
that is awesome! And I bet it’s durable as all get out too.
ooh, that’s a sweet basket. Great job!
Sweep the leg, Johnny!
Paula – I know this was posted a year and a half ago, but I’ve just found it today! Can you share how you made it? Mainly I’m looking for measurements (not sure if I should cut the belts in thirds, half…or some of both). I’ve got eight belts to work with. How big was your finished basket?
Many thanks!
