As I was making this quick wrap for a friend, I decided to take a few photos and post the process. It started with about 1/2 yard of lace yardage. I used her hip measurement and cut the top of the wrap using a curve to give it shape, then I measured down from the hip curve the length we decided upon (9″) and pin marked the edge. I used my favorite method**(see below) for trimming non organic fabrics to cut around the lace motifs to create a clean edge. To finish the top edge, I zigzagged 1″ lace elastic, pulling very slightly, then I folded the elastic to the wrong side of the wrap and stitched it down. I added a hook and loop closure and a buckle for flair! Voila! Swim Wrap!

Heat Trimming Fabric
**A few years ago I realized that my “wood burner” would cut fabric and seal the edge at the same time as long as the fabric was non-organic. It works great with lace as well. Through trial and error, I realized that glass is the best surface to cut on so now I use the Walnut Hollow Textile Tool and Tempered Glass Mat.
Here is the lace on the glass mat:

****Caution: the melting lace or fabric can really produce some fumes, be sure to try this in a well ventilated area!
